    Hello,

I need to wind an 8/2 cotton, one color, three yard, 786 end warp for a baby blanket. Does anyone see a problem if I use two cones of yarn, wind two threads at once and use Janet’s trick of doubling the length of the warp and then cutting it in the middle and threading from there? That would significantly reduce the number of times I have to circle the warping board as far as I can figure. Anyone see any drawbacks to this plan? Any suggestions? Thanks for any help you can provide Margaret Mann

Zero problems! Two cones and folded means ~25% of the effort for 100% of the results!

Just don’t forget that second cross. Without it, you’ll have a 6 yard warp with half as many ends as you need. (Ask me how I know.) o.O

Thanks so much Janet. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy your classes and how much I have learned. Margaret

Post your results on the folded warping please Margaret. I haven’t, as yet tried it.

I always wind a warp with multiple ends and, as long as I’m paying attention to what I’m doing, I don’t have any problems. Should my attention wander (as it, unfortunately does from time to time), I might have problems but nothing I haven’t been able to recover from.

Thanks to all who responded to my question about winding a warp with two threads and a folded warp. I just got it on the loom and it worked out great. No problems and it was very nice to only have to wind half of the 786 ends I needed. Margaret Mann
