Undaily Namedrafts
Posted by Janet Dawson on April 28, 2023 at 10:34 amI had the idea earlier to post a daily namedraft… but then I thought, “Hold it right there, Janet. You can barely remember to brush your teeth every day, let’s not be making any promises you can’t keep.” So instead I will post undaily namedrafts, whenever the mood strikes. :)
Namedrafting is a method used to design original … er, designs. Usually used for overshot but applicable to other things as well. I mostly use it for overshot, so that’s what I’ll mostly post here. :)
ETA: this isn’t a thread only for me! Comments and contributions are welcome!

“Pine cone” for @michael-harkness :)
Note that this is not THE pine cone / pine burr threading. It’s a namedraft of the words “pine cone”.

I like the idea of this. I have a few I may post when I get a chance!

That looks like my thought process, expanding and contracting, and going off in another direction in the background!

I like a wee bit of asymmetry in my designs, then mirror it (to get the symmetry back).

Wow!! It looks like curved tubes when woven – unless you have the cloth arranged that way dimensionally. (Is dimensionally a word? Maybe we need to name draft it and see)

If I can figure out how, I can send you the draft (if I can find it hiding on my computer).

Too right! It’s at the wrong time of year too. I’d like it better if it was in winter when we need it instead of summer when you pray for the end of the day and the cool in the evening. Somebody made a dumb decision.

Dumb and unhealthy (circadian rhythm). My dental hygenist asked how I like the time change and I said that I don’t do it. She laughed. I can add 1 when I need to. Not exactly higher math. Interesting youtube video on the subject: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84aWtseb2-4. That said, Your name draft is amazing. Wow!
I put the link there but I didn’t think the actual viedo would come up. Sorry if it’s too off topic.
