Someone asked about when to use a tabby in weaving. Several years ago, I did a little experiment with a simple twill. The warp is green 20/2 cotton. On the left I used a 10/2 cotton yellow weft, got squashed diamonds. The ones on the right use a tabby. First, 10/2 purple weft with a 20/2 purple tabby, 10/2 yellow weft with a green 20/2 tabby weft, then 10/2 red weft with a yellow 20/2 cotton tabby, and 10/2 ref weft with a couple of different yellow/green 20/2 cotton tabby wefts. I had another piece I did using different sizes and colors of tabby in a twill. I’ll post a picture if I can find where I put it. I don’t use a good system keeping track of what I’ve woven once it comes off the loom.

That’s a useful sample – thanks for sharing.
