‘Drafts: the Written Language of Weaving’ is a three part series of courses that takes an in depth look at each part of a structural weaving draft written for shaft looms.

This introductory course kicks off the series with a look at drafts in general. In it, you’ll learn what “a structural draft written for floor looms” IS, what the parts of such a draft are, how drafts differ from project instructions, and how drafts represent the loom itself.

After this general introduction, the series continues with three more courses related to the specific parts of a draft and an accompanying drawdown:

  1. The Threading: Where Every Draft Begins
  2. The Secrets of Liftplans, Treadlings, and Tie-ups
  3. Drawdowns, Part 1
