  • threads in a single dent getting crossed

I’ve been weaving a while, and I’ve never had this happen before. I had two warp ends that went through the same dent get out of order. The end threaded on shaft 4 was on the right of the end threaded through shaft 3, but when I wove it, the end on shaft 4 was on the left of the end threaded through shaft 3. I checked multiple times, and what I’ve said is correct. And every time I threaded the sequence, the same thing happened. I ended up resleying parts of reed so the end on shaft 3 was in a different dent than the end on shaft 4. Any ideas why this happened? I was sleying 2 per dent in a 12 dent reed.

That is a strange thing to happen. Did it happen in all the places that you have shaft 4 and 3 next to each other?

Was there anything behind the heddles that could have given those two thread different tensions?

It happened in the 5 red stripes I had, exactly the same way (there were actually 4 different “crossed” threads in each stripe, exactly the same in all of them. I resleyed the reed so that the “crossed” threads were in different dents and it’s perfect. I’m baffled!

that is very strange, to be sure.

Does the yarn in those stripes have a different twist direction compared to the rest of the yarn?

I am glad that you found a solution that works!
